Bengaluru, December 10, 2024: Karnataka is observing three days of state mourning following the demise of former Chief Minister and External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna. To honor his memory, the state government has announced a holiday on Wednesday, December 11. During this period of mourning, flags will be flown at half-mast across all government offices, and no official functions or entertainment programs will be conducted.
Funeral Arrangements with Full State Honors
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar confirmed that S.M. Krishna’s funeral will take place in his hometown, Maddur, on Wednesday afternoon. The last rites, scheduled for 4 PM, will be performed with full state honors.
Before the funeral, the public will have an opportunity to pay their last respects to the late leader. His body will lie in state for public viewing in Bengaluru until 8 AM on Wednesday. Afterward, it will be transported to Maddur, where people can pay their tributes from 10:30 AM to 3 PM.
